JOHANNESBURG – Kaizer Chiefs pulled off a dramatic upset in the Nedbank Cup semi-final, defeating heavyweights Mamelodi Sundowns in a nail-biting finish that had fans on the edge of their seats.
Sundowns looked in control for much of the game and managed to take the lead right before halftime, applying serious pressure on the Amakhosi. But Chiefs were not done yet.
Wandile Duba stepped up in the second half with a vital equaliser that brought the match back to life and shifted the momentum in favour of the Soweto giants.
As the game headed into the final minutes, extra time seemed inevitable — until a costly defensive error by Sundowns gifted Chiefs a golden opportunity. The Glamour Boys didn’t waste it.
With just minutes left on the clock, Chiefs found the winner and completed a smash-and-grab that will be remembered for years to come.
This victory sends Kaizer Chiefs to the Nedbank Cup final and proves once again that in knockout football, anything can happen.
